OPEN Kaskada Cup in 2014 - the First Round
In very severe weather today launched the first round of the tournament Czech PGA Tour called OPEN Cascade Cup 2014. In a cold weather, and from the beginning an unpleasant rain almost there were almost seven dozen players from eight countries trying to deal with the rigors of excellently prepared course. After the first day brought the best result Lukáš Tintěra. The results showed how difficult the conditions were today - only one player was able to make a result under par - outstanding Lukáš Tintěra. At finish Lukáš said: "I was trying to play simply as possible golf as I can: hit fairways and greens in regulation. On the downwind pars five, I tried to score (9, 15) and it worked. The decisive moment was hole number two, where I scored chip-in to save par and almost immediately I confirmed with birdie on three." Then he felt sufficiently speeded up for a good result, which brought birdies on seven and nine. The second nine he launched a little stiff, but par five No. 15 (with the wind) meant another scoring. The last three holes were a bit tough but eventually Lukáš brought the best numbers.
His first professional tournament completed (accompanied by spectators and media), former outstanding athlete Roman Šebrle. Initially, it was clear that a new situation influenced a bit his hands, but in the second nine he already enjoyed his golf. "Just at the second hole the Course punished me with out and I marked plus three, then it all went well. The surprise for me was the range of results: eagle, three birdies, some pars, but also double and triple-bogey." Roman unlike during his practise time could not rely on his drives. He rarely hit fairways, and even putts were not so good as usually. However, with the score of 81 he is not so far from the results of other players.
Golf experts also watched the performance of Pardubice's Ondřej Lieser. Ondřej had to deal mainly with the cold weather. "Conditions under which we started in the morning were really cruel. After 7 holes I was plus three, then fortunately came a row of 4 birdies within 5 holes and I was suddenly happier." Up to eighteen it was minus one, but the last hole to play brought missed fairway and from rough the strike was too complicated. All this meant bogey and thus the overall pa r.The starting position for tomorrow's attack is probably good (T2).
