Max Walz won EXTEC Trophy
German Maximilian Walz repeated excellent score 68 and won EXTEC Trophy by CzechOne at Ypsilon GC. During the second day local Ondrej Lieser tried to beat him, but due to 3m long putt at 18 (missed) he did not reach play-off.
Walz started his today's journey not quite brilliantly - after 3 holes his score was +2. Nevertheless, he did not make any other mistake, scored 9 birdies and this brought him the overall victory. With his 1st place he gained an invitation for ProGolfTOur event held at Ypsilonka since May 2nd. Walz commented: "I started tragically today making 2 bogeys in the very beginning. I made a long putt at 5th, later I scored at 8th and 9th. I made one chip-in and one pitch-in which made me calm. I focused on good things and distanced from bad ones from my mind. Conditions here at Ypsilonka were excellent, the course was in a good shape, I look forward the next week's tournament here."
Local hero, Ondrej Lieser (leader after 15 holes today) lost his victory, that was why he did not want to make any comments. He only said: "Today I lost the tournament at front nine with my tragical putts. I struggled my driver, last three holes I only saved. Putt at 18th was caused by bad reading"
Leader after Day 1, Ales Korinek finished T3 (with British Dobson).
Tournament was held at well-prepared course at Ypsilonka near Liberec (ygolf.cz). First day faced cold and rainy weather. Today's conditions were much better. The second day foreign players push themselves up through leaderboard, gaining more and more experience with the course.
