Interview with Manager of Kaskada Resort
The first tournament of this year's Czech PGA Tour will take place at the South Moravian Kaskada course. Therefore, we interviewed the resort manager, Mr. Jiří Milfajt .
What are the main changes in Kaskada for 2014?
We basically outsourced maintenance of the golf course, just the same way as they did on about 50 other courses all over the world, for example like Dýšina, Čeladná or Penati. The responsibility is now on German company Engelmann. Another new partner is Golf PROFI, which recently took over our PRO- shop. Previously we ran it by ourselves, but the new partner has got much more varied range of items, it is a strong chain and it can offer players a much broader service. The course itself this year is with no major changes, we want to maintain the high quality players are accustomed to. However, we keep expanding training facilities, we have a new fitting center, including the swing analysis and fitting of equipment. We want have it open by the end of April, and thus before the start of this year's Czech PGA Tour. Furthermore we inlarged and training areas, the players know that we have double-sided driving range, but the space next to the driving range was newly sown, and right after growing the proper grass (hopefully June), we have for our visitors to the new chip & pitch area with a great training green. Our course is a regional training center of CGF (along with Zbraslav GC in Bohemia), at Children's Academy we have 150 skillful children, and all that is why we continually expand and improve our services. Incidentally - the restaurant has a new chef, Mr. Jakub Novotný. We hope that the level of gastronomy is going to keep rising.
What is the biggest attraction of Kaskada?
Definitely the quality of the course as well as greens, then accessability from Brno and complexity of services. For example, hotel guests might use wellness facilities free of charge etc. Our equipment is ready for longer stays, visitors can spend their vacations here. Accommodation has got four stars and gastronomy also one of our pride .
What is the biggest trouble for players?
Hole Nr. 2 at Stone course. It's a dogleg from top down, players cannot see where to play, and quite often we face jam at this point during tournaments. Moreover, this hole comes just after a busy opening - par five uphill, so it's a real challenge. Elsewhere perhaps our visitors do not have a problem (laughter). Perhaps another difficulty WE face here, not players. We don't have asphalt paths everywhere on the course. This allows players to ride with buggies almost all over the course and sometimes we face real problem with it. We try to educate players to considerate behavior towards others as well as to the course, but the prefection is still unattainable.
Who is responsible for the design of the course?
Famous English designer Jonathan Gaunt.
Who holds the record of the course?
Mr. Lee Corfield played 64 here during Czech PGA Tour at 2012
Were there any stars playing at Kaskada?
Of course all the Czech famous celebrities lead by Jiří Bartoška & co. From abroad played here for example Carlos Moya and Mark Philippoussis - they participated in the tennis event in Prostejov and we have gathered together to play a few holes.
What is the rate of foreign players at Kaskada?
We estimate 10%.
Thanks, successful year 2014 and many good strokes!
